Ashkum Homecoming Talent Showcase

at the Ashkum Village Park
Sign in will start at 5:30 p.m. & sound check at 6:00-6:45 p.m.
Sound Check is optional. Sound checks should limited to staging and a quick
voice or instrument check.
Division Guidelines:
A.Junior Division: All Contestants can be 14 years old or younger
on the day and date of contest.
B.Senior Division: All contestants that are 15 years to 21 years
of age on the day and date of the contest
will be entered in the Senior Division.
1.All contestants may appear in only one act.
2.Each contestant is responsible for making his/her own entry. All members, including an alternate, of a group MUST fill-out a separate Talent Showcase Entry Form.
3.Any act should not go over four (4) minutes; points will be taken away for performances lasting over the four (4) minute time limit.
4.There is a setup time limit of three (3) minutes. This will be timed.
5.The applications will be entered on a first come first serve basis as they are received. Entries will be accepted up till August 26 or division entered is filled.
6.Each act should have a short description of their group, song, members performing and other related performance items for the MC to announce.
7.There is no audition, an act maybe disqualified because of last minute changes in acts and are at the discretion of the Showcase Committee. If a group includes an alternate, the alternate must also fill out an application form.
8.All accepted applicants will receive notice via first class mail.
9.All contestants must supply their own equipment. A piano keyboard will be available for an accompanist or piano solo. Microphones, microphone stands, a CD player and will have the capability to plug-in a contestant’s personal electric equipment. A sound check will be between 6:00-7:00 before the show to assess the sound needs of the contestants.
10.This event is held outdoors on a
16 ft. x 32 ft. raised stage with over head canvas
cover and backdrop.
a.Dance acts
should be aware of front and side edges of the stage. Sound and
audio equipment will be moved as much as possible to accommodate any
dance act.
b.The Showcase maybe
delayed or cancelled in the event of severe weather.
11.Accompaniment CDs are acceptable. No like talent is preferred, i.e. background vocal, like instrumentation, tap dancing or sound effects. If accompaniment CD does contain background vocals and others as mentioned. The selection committee and the judges should be notified before the performance. This will be monitored and any infraction to this rule will disqualify the act.
12.Judging of the performance will be based on a total of one hundred (100) points Costume 15, Choice of Material 15, Natural Ability 20, Audience Appeal 25 and Stage Presence 25. The decision of the judges will be final. Scoring sheets/critiques will not be made available to the contestants or any other person.
13.Prizes will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place contestants in each division. Prizes for 1st are $100, 2nd $50 and 3rd $25.
