An Ordinance Regarding
Weight Limits on Main Street in the Village of Ashkum, Iroquois County,
Illinois
WHEREAS,
the Village of Ashkum is about to resurface a portion of Main Street within
the Village limits; and
WHEREAS,
there are reasonable alternate routes for access to the Village.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED,
by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Ashkum, Iroquois
County, Illinois, as follows:

1. Trucks, other commercial vehicles,
farm equipment, or combination vehicles with a gross weight of more than
30,000 pounds shall not be permitted to travel on Main Street in the Village
of Ashkum from East line of U.S. Route 45 to the Easterly Village limits
of the Village of Ashkum.
2. Construction equipment being used for the repair of said Street, and
vehicles making deliveries or pick-ups to residences or businesses on said
Street (East of said Route 45) are exempted from this Ordinance.
3. When any vehicle is operated in violation of this Ordinance, the driver
of the vehicle shall be deemed guity of the violation and may be prosecuted.
4. Any person, farm or corporation convicted of violating this Ordinance
shall be fined $50.00 for any weight exceeding the posted limt and an additional
$75.00 per 500-pound increment or fraction therof exceeding such limit.
5. There shall be erected and maintained signs designating the limits set
forth herein at either end of the designated portion of Main Street.
This Ordinance shall take effect from and after the
date of its passage, adoption, approval, and publication as provided by law.
