VILLAGE OF ASHKUM
ORDINANCE NO. 2010-02
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE PROVISIONS OF THE VILLAGE'S ORDINANCE 8-3-4 RELATING TO GARBAGE COLLECTIONS IN THE VILLAGE OF ASHKUM, IROQUOIS COUNTY, ILLINOIS

WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees of the Village of Ashkum, has received a new contract from Kankakee/A&J Disposal, and is being required to pay a substantially higher fee for the collection of garbage within the Village:

AND WHEREAS, is is appropriate to pass such charges on to the end users of such service;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of Trustees of the Village of Ashkum, Iroquois, Illinois, as that Code section 8-3-4 amended as follows:

"8-3-4: COLLECTION OF GARBAGE; PLACEMENT OF CONTAINERS
"A. Weekly Collection by Village. The Village Board shall have charge of the collection of garbage, tin cas, bottles, and similar refuse from residential premises in the village. The collection shall be made from all premises at least once a week; provided the material is properly stored for collection in a container complying with the provisions of this chapter.

"B. Fees: The fees for such collection shall be paid in advance, and shall be as follows:
"1. For each residential unit in the Village the collection fee shal be $12.00 per month effective immediately.
"Commencing February 11, 2011, for each residential unit in the Village the collection fee shal be $13.00 per month. Thereafter, the then monthly fee per unit shall increase on each succeeding Feburary 1, to and including February 1, 2014, by $1.00

"C. Placement of Containers: Each person charged under this chapter with the duty of maintaining either a receptacle of garbage or receptacle of tin cans and other similar refuse shall place and carry said receptacles on the garbage collection days to the street or alley line designated either by the Village Board or by the garbage collector, unless said person shall regularly dispose of his garbage or refuse outside the corporate limits of the Village."

     Adopted by the Board of Trustees on March 1, 2010.
